App of the Day-Sky Force

Sky Force $1.99->FREE (App Store) is a top-down arcade shooter reminiscent of Capcom’s classic arcade game, 1942. Players not only need to cruise through each level to complete it, but gamers must destroy a high percentage of enemies, depending on the selected difficulty, to advance to the next level.

Players can choose between 3 different type of aircrafts. The slow moving aircrafts will have better shields than the fast moving ones. Aircrafts can be controlled via touch or accelerator based control scheme. Playing the game with accelerator control will be challenging but an enjoyable experience when compared to the default touch based controls. Sky Force is also Openfeint enabled. Unlock achievements and check the leader boards to see how well your shooting compares with players around the world.

Why is it Great? Unlock 8 levels of intense shooting action with your choice of tilt or touch based control scheme.

Other Great Apps- a Domino Pop

a Domino Pop $0.99->FREE (App Store) is a bomb explosion puzzle game in which your goal is to bomb all of the tiles on your screen with various type of bombs.

The regular bomb blasts the areas just around it, while the heavier duty bombs will have longer range than regular bombs.You only have a limited number of bombs available, and you need to place the bombs near each other so one bomb will be able to set the other bombs blasting in a domino-like fashion to completely bomb all the tiles on the screen. Careful, if you didn’t place the bombs in the correct spot, you lose.

Why is it Great? Remember Bomberman? It’s feels kinda like that when all your bombs explodes!

Relix

Relix $0.99->FREE (App Store) is a relic moving and pairing puzzle game in which your goal is to move relics in the correct order using minimal number of moves such that the same relics would get paired. When all of the relics are paired and disappear from each level, you win!

Relix plays like the popular box pushing BoxedIn series in that you need to move those relics in a certain way to beat each level. Otherwise, you’ll have to restart the game. Relix also rewards you for using a minimum number of moves to solve each level. 2 stars are given if players solve a level using minimum number of moves. Stars can be used to unlock new levels. There are 50 levels in all.

Why is it Great? Fans of box pushing puzzle games will love this game. Another way to spend that extra time.

Tic Clock

Tic Clock $1.99->FREE (App Store) is no ordinary clock app. This clock not only tells time, but also weather,and news. Use GPS or enter your zip code to get the latest weather and temperature. Give the weather tab a tap and it will show you the weather forecast for today and tomorrow. Tic Clock also gives you streaming news. Users can adjust the news topics by entering keywords associated with their favorite news. This clock app can be used in both landscape or portrait orientations.

Why is it Great? If you use your iPhone as a clock, this is one of the apps you need to get.
