Bluetooth Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and a Jailbroken iPhone Connect Well Together
The btstack project has done it again. First they paired an Apple wireless keyboard with a jailbroken iPhone 3Gs here allowing you to input text to all manner of programs on your phone. Now they have paired a new Apple magic mouse and a virtual keyboard with the jailbroken iPhone. According to their website “the aim of this project is to support devices for which the OS either does not provide a Bluetooth Stack or the available stack is severely limited (e.g., on the iPhone).”
The paired keyboard and mouse work on the iPhone seamlessly like they work on a laptop. Thus they seem to be achieving their goals quite well! Unfortunately they have only been able to make these apps available through the Cydia app store for jailbroken iPhones. Let’s hope this functionality is available to the rest of us soon! Perhaps these apps will be expanded once the iTablet is released. I can see a demand from users wanting to input on Apple’s soon to be released tablet through a hands on keyboard and mouse. C’mon Apple, give us more options!
