Adobe’s Acrobat.com App Turns your iPhone into a Document Scanner and Fax Machine
Adobe has recently released an app that works in conjunction with acrobat.com allowing for the faxing and sharing of .pdf files all from your iPhone, kind of, not really. Firstly, you’ll need to sign up for an acrobat.com account.
Depending on use acrobat.com offers pricing plans from free to quite expensive. Though a free account does offer unlimited sharing and downloading, you will need to do your own .pdf conversions or be prepared to pay. This is really quite simple through OpenOffice, or Pages.
It is a nice service, once you have everything uploaded.
This new mobile accompaniment is free but if used regularly can get quite expensive. It is a solid access point to your acrobat.com account BUT it is, right now, shockingly slow.
This is not to say it is not a good program. If you are using a 3GS, utilizing your camera, you can essentially turn your phone into a scanner. Additionally, and perhaps its greatest feature is the ability to fax any documents or photos from either your acrobat.com account or from your phone. The drawback being, that the free program only allows 5 scans and 2 faxes before you are asked to pay.
For many this program will offer more than marginal utility and is a great addition to mobile business solutions. For others, especially, those interested in speed Evernote may still remain the better option.
