3D GTA Style “Gangstar” Released for the iPhone
GTA styled iPhone and iPod games has already made splashes at the Apps Store. However Car Jack Streets (2D) and Payback (2.5D) did not deliver the immersive 3D world that made the original Grand Theft Auto 3 so great. Now, with the release of Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, the iPhone has fulfilled that void, bringing an interactive 3D gangster world right to your iPhone.
As promised, the developer Gameloft set Gangstar at a reasonable price of $6.99. Although this price is higher than many other apps and games, it is still lower than its nearest portable competitor, Rockstar’s very own Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories for the PSP. Be warned, this game is rated 12+ as downloading this whopping 173MB game will get you some sexual content or nudity, mature and suggestive themes, alcohol and drug use, frequent realistic violence, profanity, and crude humor.
The game is set in Los Angeles. Players will encounter areas that resemble Hollywood, Santa Monica, South Central. The main character, Pedro, is a Mexican who has just been released from prison and crossed the border into U.S. to meet up with his cousin. It turned out his cousin is involved in gang rivalry, and thus the life of violent crimes and fast money begins.
Gangstar offers 50 missions for the iPhone gamer to complete. Following true tradition of GTA styled games, gamers can also explore the 3D environment by driving and crashing into other vehicles. When you have some free time, feel free to fight and shoot at random pedestrians or the police. The game character is controlled by an on-screen joystick, while vehicles can be controlled with on-screen pedals and the accelerometer.
It’s been just a short while since Gameloft first unveiled this GTA styled game. But for now, the wait is over, so download that Gangstar app and start your gangster life on the iPhone.
