Apple has just announced that their App Store has hit the milestone for 100,000 available app! That is a whole bunch of apps in just 18 short months since the its inception. Most of us are probably wondering just how the App Store grows so fast in such a short period of time. Well, here’s one answer for you. Break up the app content into tens of different pieces. How about that Lotto info for Alaska, Arizona, and the entire fifty states repackaged into 50 unique apps! Or that basketball game info for each individual NBA teams divided into 30 separate apps. There are lots of apps like these in the App Store. Since there may be many different companies making same types of apps, there may be hundreds of apps all trying to sell basketball game info.
Of course that’s not the only reason there are over 100,000 apps in the App Store. There are over 10,000 eBooks in the App Store, and their numbers are increasing fast! The Book category itself could possibly propel the App Store to over a million apps as there are millions of published book just waiting to be digitalized. Even small time writers who cannot afford to publish their own books can go to the App Store for easy publishing.
The huge number of me-too apps also help to dramatically increase the number of apps in the App Store. Just how many fart apps, sudoku apps, and IQ test apps are there for an app shopper to choose?
