While it truly does look like onus and crux of the difficulties between Adobe, whom have already developed Flash for the iPhone, can be blamed on Apple the message on the right from Adobe’s site is a little passive aggressive. It is reminiscent of what Jorge Luis Borges said of the Falkland Islands War, or Malvinas for my Argentine friends, “It’s like watching two bald men fighting over a comb”.

Enter Tobias Schneider, while the big two battle over this one and seem to get further from an accord, Tobias is moving forward with Gordon. Gordon is an open source Flash™ runtime written in pure JavaScript that will allow web sites to integrate this engine and turn Flash™ animations into something viewable on the iPhone.

Well done sir. Now Gordon is still in it’s infancy, in fact it is still in the maternity or, rather,  in Mr. Schneider’s case paternity ward. It is less than two days old but is already showing signs of maturity. Direct your iPhone or iPod Touch’s browser here to check it out.

iPhone Safari’s inability to display Flash on websites has been a blemish on an otherwise amazing mobile browser.  Adobe had since tried to work with Apple to make a mobile version of flash that Apple would  accept. However, even after all other phone makers pledge to bring  Flash to their mobile browsers, Apple is still resisting flash on their mobile safari browser, claiming poor performance issues associated with Flash (There may be other reasons Apple won’t tell us).

Now Adobe is fighting back with some finger pointing propaganda.  When a user encounters an Adobe Flash player download page on the iPhone, he will see the following message:

“Flash Player not available for your device. Apple restricts use of technologies required by products like Flash Player. Until Apple eliminates these restrictions, Adobe cannot provide Flash Player for the iPhone or iPod touch.”

The message seems to want it’s readers to take up arms against Apple.  Do something!  Write a hate mail to Apple, call your congressman, and alert the FBI, FCC, and the FTC!  Anything to get Apple to drop its stubborn stance on flash and finally bring flash to the iPhone!

Will it work?  Only time will tell.

No Flash on the Internet! iPhone Fans will be disappointed.

Today, Adobe announced Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for all of the major smart phones, except the iPhone.  All the major smart phones will get Flash on their web browsers by next year, while iPhone’s arch enemy, the Palm Pre, has already been seen running Flash almost flawlessly.  This is an Open Screen Project put together by Adobe, RIM, Google, and other major industry leaders to deliver Flash experience for mobile web browsing.

The lack of participation by Apple will be a huge disappointment for iPhone users.  Many have high hopes that one day, their iPhones can explore the entire flash enabled internet just like the rest of the web.  Apple, however, says that the full version of the Flash player may dampen performance on the iPhone.  And thus, they have elected to not participate in Adobe’s Open Screen Project.  But knowing Apple and its desire for tight control on its apps, Apple may not want Flash on Safari at all, since app developers can circumvent the App Store with Flash enabled iPhone Safari browser.

Apple’s fear for losing control on its apps over Flash is becoming more evident as Adobe announced that developers can use its Flash technology to easily create iPhone apps.  As iPhone and iPod Touch Apps, Flash may have finnaly found a way to infect iPhones.  Apple should be OK with Flash enabled apps since they will have to be approved by Apple before the public can utilize them.  iPhone owners, however, will lose their freedom to explore the internet as they please.  Whenever there is a website that demands Flash technology, iPhone owners will hit a brick wall and sadly envy all the other cell phone users who can browse the flash enabled web as they please.
